USDC

The Mazzetta Company aggressively participates in the United States Department of Commerce's (USDC) Seafood Inspection Program. For over 40 years, the Voluntary Seafood Inspection Program has inspected, certified, and graded literally billions of pounds of seafood products. These inspections are performed under the authority of the 1946 Agriculture Marketing Act, which directed the Secretary of Agriculture to provide voluntary inspection and certification services to organizations wishing to conform with this Act. This inspection program ensures that

"products may be marketed to the best advantage, that trading may be facilitated, and that consumers may be able to obtain the quality product which they desire..."

Organizations like The Mazzetta Company that participate in the USDC Seafood Inspection Program can use the Federal "U.S. Grade A" and "PUFI" marks and related statements based on passing their inspections.

The Food & Drug Administration now sponsors the HACCP program, which ensures food safety through the use of additional precautionary inspection methods.
